New to forum, old to mag

Internet Forum courtesy insists that you should make this your first stop for an Introduction before you wander into the rest of the Forum. Much like a local pub, the regulars get suspicious of blow-ins that barge into a conversation without at least saying "Hello, my name is ...... and I ride a .........".
So tell us a bit about yourself.

New to forum, old to mag

Postby gusthemus on Fri Mar 05, 2010 10:03 pm

Hi all. I'm Gus. I'm 33 & live in the South Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. I've been reading twowheels for quite some time now & have been a subscriber for about a year now. I thought I'd join the forums when I was in the process of sending off a photo via email today for the On Any Sunday section of the mag. I'm a member of probably 8 or so other biking forums but never ventured here before.

I ride a 2006 Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird. It's got an aftermarket Repsol fairing kit on it after the original owner dropped it at stationary & scratched up the right side. It was originally black & I have the original fairings that I'll probably clean up & refit sometime. It's also got a factory pannier set & I recently had a bracket made up for the rear that I've now mounted an RJays top box on for everyday use.

Speaking of everyday use, I use this for commuting 5 days a week & then try to get out on the weekend or at night wherever possible as well. It's just an awesome bike for just about anything you want to do on the road.

Here's a pic of my girl.

Thanks guys.

I think there are 1 or two others that I know of in Oz but that's about it.

I'm in two minds about it really. On one hand, I'm not a flashy/look at me, sort of person & I don't want to attract unwanted attention from people(particularly those with flashing lights!). I really like the look of them in the original black as well. On the other hand, it should, theoretically, make me more visible in traffic on the daily filter that is the Monash freeway. I just don't know that the extra visibility is enough for me at this point.

I met a bloke once who had painted his BBird canary yellow. The poof. But he didn't give a shit... it was that f*cking fast on the highway that who was gonna pull the piss out of him?

Hi Gus. BBirds are one seriously underrated bike.
I used to have one in Black, 1996 model, with a Yoshimura 4-2-1 single sided system with an RS3 can. It sounded AWESOME.
Yours certainly looks different.
Everything is as it should be.
At this moment, everything is perfect.

Greetings gusthemus and welcome to the forum. Have fun with the inmates and enjoy the ride. The Repsol Blackbird certainly does look different.
So what's wrong with canary yellow exjourno? I have it on good authority that the only colour faster than yellow is red.
The boys and girls in blue are drawn to those two colours like moths to a light.

I think you have been misinformed - it's a scientific fact that black will outdo both yellow and red.

If I paint my CB250 black, will it outrun a canary yellow Blackbird?

Depends who is sitting on top, don't it!

Hi Gus. Welcome to the forum. Gotta say I'm not a fan of the Repsol kit. Go flat black.

Thats the fatest NSR150SP I have EVER seen Welcome Gus, I just dont get it with guys putting race inspired honda graphics on their road bikes. :rolling:

Are you SURE Officer ? I dont think this bike will GO that fast.
