That would mean that any surplus water could also be sent to Sydney or any other town or city with an elevation lower than the output for just the cost of the price of the pipeline plus maintenance.
Shit, I was getting prepared to pay for oxygen, now I realise that gravity will be the next thing they whack a tax on. Puts a damper on our next Winter Olympic hopes. But I digress.
Please correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't there a local or state fee/charge 15 - 20 years ago for households who wanted to install/connect rain water tanks to their house water supply? This would have been when dams were fairly full and the govt were, as always, interested in revenue. We have recently had rebates for water tanks, solar panels, and house insulation, which has seen quite a few cowboys flash their spurs around, causing a bit of grief in the suburbs. Had households back then been able to install water tanks, we may not have needed to even consider a desal plant.
Are all levels of governments lacking in foresight, or do we expect to much of them to think that they will look beyond their term in office?
Dunno, it was workin' fine before you got here.
